It’s that time of year again! The holiday work parties, secret santas and inescapable Christmas music are upon us. But there’s nothing that screams pre-Holiday extravaganza like Z100’s Jingle Ball, and Friday in the city was the night to jam with some of the year’s biggest names in music. After touching down in Los Angeles last week for KIIS FM’s ball, the hottest party of the season hit a completely sold-out Madison Square Garden last night, and with artists as big as Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, it’s not surprising the evening was a memorable one.If you didn’t have tickets, and opted to watch a “Friday the 13th” horror marathon (which we totally understand) instead of catching the Yahoo! Live stream (or listening in on Z100 or iHeart Radio), MTV News was there and has you covered on everything from the pop princesses who ruled the night to the surprise guests!Lindsay Lohan Parties With MileyShe may have lost out on the title of Time’s Person of the Year to the Pope, but Miley Cyrus looked anything but distraught when she hit the stage to close out the show. Introduced by Lindsay Lohan to ear-shattering screams, Cyrus stepped onstage in a glittery, red outfit and dangling furry ball earrings. And after a cute Christmas opening featuring Charlie Brown, she went right into the classic “Party in the USA.”An evidently drunk Santa Claus then got twerked on by Miley during “We Can’t Stop” and a song off her Bangerz album, “#GETITRIGHT.” Cyrus eventually decided to slow it down, though, doing an acoustic cover of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness,” before closing out the show with her next single “Adore You” and her current smash “Wrecking Ball.”Selena Makes The Stars DanceIt’s been a great year for Selena Gomez, and we’ve got to say, all the touring she’s been doing has definitely made her an even better performer. From the dance breaks to how Gomez worked the crowd, the singer/actress brought her A-game. She opened and closed with her two biggest hits of the year, “Slow Down” and “Come and Get It,” respectively, and sprinkled in crowd faves like “Love You Like a Love Song” and a song off her album Stars Dance called “B.E.A.T.”Stars Bow Down To Beyonce On Jingle Ball Red CarpetYou Can’t Hold Macklemore & Ryan Lewis DownThe hip-hop duo showed why they deserve their seven Grammy nominations on Friday night. To ear-splitting screams and sometimes-overpowering singing from the crowd, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis hit the stage with “Thrift Shop.” An emotionally raw performance of “Same Love” was made even more powerful with the vocal help of Tegan & Sara before the duo made us all wish we owned a Cadillac with “White Walls.” They ended their set with Macklemore wading into the crowd while performing “Can’t Hold Us.”Ariana Grande Spits A Few Bars!We already told you that pop princesses ruled the night, but if you didn’t believe it after we mentioned Miley and Selena, there was also Ariana Grande. Introduced by “Cups” singer/actress Anna Kendrick, the powerhouse 20-year-old came out to “Right Here” before singing one of her latest holiday hits, “Last Christmas.” It goes without saying but Grande’s vocals were on-point at Jingle Ball … so much so that we often found ourselves shaking our heads in disbelief.Grande gave an acoustic performance of “Honeymoon Avenue,” off her Yours Truly album, and closed her set with her biggest hit, “The Way.” Can we just say that Ariana sing-rapping parts of Mac Miller’s verses completely made our lives?Fifth Harmony’s Girl-Power Poses Give Us LifeHow many musical groups can say they were thrown together at the beginning of the year on “The X Factor” and performed in the biggest venue in the world by the end of that same year? Fifth Harmony can. The quintet had a quick three-song set, but Camila, Lauren, Normani, Dinah and Ally worked the stage with cute-yet-fierce girl-power poses, booty poppin’ and incredible vocals. The girls sang “Miss Movin’ On,” “Better Together” and “Me and My Girls” before profusely thanking the crowd over and over while exiting the stage.’Cardboard’ Paramore Rock Just As HardFor the second time in a month, Paramore rocked out on the stage at Madison Square Garden. Only Friday night was much different: bassist Jeremy Davis seemed a bit stiff – cardboard-cutout stiff, if you ask us! But that’s because Davis had to skip out on the show and be with his wife in the U.K. as they await the arrival of their first child. So to remedy his absence, singer Hayley Williams and guitarist Taylor York kept a cutout version of Davis close by onstage. The band got the crowd going wild with hits like “Misery Business,” “The Only Exception” and “Still Into You,” as well as their next single “Ain’t It Fun.”Austin Mahone Gets Love From NYC Banga BangasCrowned MTV’s Artist to Watch at the 2013 VMAs, Austin Mahone certainly lived up to that title. He ran onstage to deafening shrieks and tears from the crowd as he dove into “Just a Friend,” and then sang and danced – and danced some more – to his latest single “Banga, Banga.” His set-closer “What About Love” only elicited more shrieks!R. Kelly Puts The Key In The IgnitionWith an introduction from R. Kelly, who sang his hit “Ignition,” Pitbull got the sold-out Garden dancing, jumping and singing like a pro. Meanwhile, Fall Out Boy got the crowd rocking, as crooners like “Blurred Lines” star Robin Thicke, Enrique Iglesias and Jason Derulo rounded out the jam-packed lineup.
