A few more details about the much-anticipated Simpsons-Family Guy crossover episode were spilled today at Fox’s comedy showrunners panel at Television Critics Association press tour.

The Sept. 28 season premiere of Family Guy, which sends the Griffins to Springfield, will be double-sized. In addition to featuring Homer, his family, and various Springfield residents, Family Guy will include a cameo by Bob from Bob’s Burgers, according to Family Guyexecutive producer Rich Appel. While the episode was written solely by the Family Guy team, the Simpsonsproducers and writers were invited to the table read of the script and offered a chance to give input. “We sent them the script, and I think between Jim [Brooks], Matt [Groening] and Al [Jean], they had one or two lines in the hourlong episode they asked to tweak,” said Appel. “They gave us free rein.”

In other news from the panel, New Girl exec producer Elizabeth Meriwether said that the break-up of Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) is not necessarily permanent. “I loved them together and I don’t think it’s it for them at all,” Meriwether said, but also noted that it’s been easier for her to write them “as single idiots” in season 4. “It’s definitely fun to keep them apart for awhile.”

Asked to drop any hints about the upcoming batch of New Girl episodes, Meriwether said: “Jess dates some real weirdos. And one of them may or may not have a micro-penis.” Mindy Kaling couldn’t quite top that revelation when it came to teasing next season of The Mindy Project, but she did say that she was close to announcing “an incredibly cool” recurring guest star that will play the mother of Danny (Chris Messina) and clash with Mindy (Kaling). On a similar theme, Brooklyn Nine-Nine exec producer Dan Goor noted that Captain Holt’s (Andre Braugher) long-time nemesis “rises to a position of power over him.” There will be even more direct conflict in an upcoming installment of Family Guy: Peter just might learn a painful lesson after he brags that he could kick the ass of Liam Neeson, who guest-stars as himself.
